Hyrum was destined to be in a health profession.
He is REALLY enjoying his anatomy and physiology class. He learns all kinds of valuable information from his 70-something-year-old, member-of-a-stake-presidency teacher, like "Some Lovers Try Positions That They Can't Handle" is helpful in memorizing the 8 tiny bones in the palm of your hand. Wasn't expecting that from Bro. Burhley!
Okay, so he didn't tell the whole class that, but he told Hyrum since Hy is married. The class got one about lawyers. Of course, the lovers one was more helpful for Hyrum's memory.
He learns cool things like: calcium is needed for your...muscles to move! It steals it from your bones if you don't have enough. Also, reducing your salt intake by a few grams each day is more beneficial to your health than for a smoker to quit smoking! I love learning the things he's studying.
Of all his classes, he LOVES this hardest, and most notoriously fail-prone class: Anatomy and Physiology. He has to consciously leave his anat & phys books home on the days he doesn't have it in order to focus on his other subjects, otherwise he finds himself drawn to that class and only wants to study for it.
In this class, Hyrum is always one of the first to take the tests, and he takes it in a room by his teachers office, rather than the testing center, so he doesn't always get to find out his test results right away.
On his first test, he got 100%. Good way to the start the semester and boost your confidence after the horror stories you hear about the class.
On his second test, he got in the mid 80s, which he felt bad about until he found out the class average was in the 70s.
On the third test, Hyrum was actually mentioned IN the test. Since Hyrum jokes with his teacher, he put Hyrum's name in one of the answer options of a question. He got a 98% on that test, but before he knew his score, the teacher implied to the whole class that Hyrum and his buddy, Heath, got in the 50% range. He was pretty scared for a half second.
On his lipids test (involving DNA and such), he only missed 2 (and went over it all afterward with his teacher). Those who don't take their test in the testing center correct their own with the teacher's answer key. But shortly after Hy graded his test, the teacher lost his own answer key, so he's now using Hyrum's test as the answer key since 2 wrong questions isn't difficult to work around. Apparently, people are only getting in the 80s on this test, so Hyrum's test is the one he can use as an answer key. He'll have over 100% once the essays and extra credit are accounted for.
He then proceeded to get 105% on his bones test (thanks in part to those overly-confident lovers and their daring maneuvers). It looks like getting an A in this class and the lab will be a no-brainer for Hy.
Good grades in his Book of Mormon class? Check.
Weight training? Should be good.
Now, if only he can get this excited about American Foundations and Real World Math, he may just breeze his way into the nursing program!
(He did get perfect scores on his religion and American Foundation papers that I helped him write. Yep, I still got it!)
